Bibles for schoolchildren in northern Nigeria
Why?
Fellowship of Christian Students (FCS) is a strategic ministry due to its size, experience, and location. FCS has been a beacon of hope in northern Nigeria for a 66 years (since 1957), focusing on children and youth in primary, secondary, and post-secondary schools. Currently, FCS ministers to pupils and students in a total of 7,430 schools and reaches hundreds of thousands of pupils and students. Northern Nigeria is a Muslim-dominated environment where students are often persecuted for their faith. FCS’s main objective is to encourage personal Bible study and prayers, provide an opportunity for group Bible study and prayers, and organize student conferences. The community that FCS serves is experiencing severe economic challenges and has low purchasing power.
How?
The majority of the schools that FCS reaches are in rural areas and the children cannot afford to buy a copy of the Bible for themselves. They attend the school fellowship meetings (Bible Study and Discipleship Classes) without a copy of the Bible because they do not have one personally or in their families. Hence, FCS has partnered with Oasis to provide 25,000 New Living Translation Text Bibles (Africa Edition) for these students in 7,430 schools.
Funding Needs
The goal of providing Bibles to students in need is an inspiring mission that deserves support. With a co-payment of $25,000 already pledged, let's come together to raise the remaining $100,000 and help FCS make a lasting impact on these students' lives.
In order to meet the greatest need possible, your gift will first be used for this opportunity. However, if this goal is already met, your gift will go to support the entire mission of the God's Word for Africa program.
